It is not anti-flag, anti-anthem or anti-military. To me, it’s a peaceful and tangible means of expression to say “consider how many of my brothers and sisters of color are treated unfairly, disdainfully and cruelly, and all too often, encounter measures of deadly force that are unnecessary or unwarranted.”
Once again, the Trump administration is using “taking a knee” as theater to distract the public from its rampant impurities and corruption that define the executive branch, and to further pronounce its disdain for people of color.
Franklin D. Roosevelt, during his presidency, submitted what was dubbed the “Four Freedoms Speech:” freedom of speech and expression; freedom to worship God in his or her own way; freedom from want; and freedom from fear.
I ask you to consider: Do these four freedoms reflect the values of Americans at large?
Now consider: How many of these values are being thwarted by the Trump administration in its quest to subvert, distract and appeal to its base?
