M-CHS basketball tryouts



M-CHS is having basketball tryouts for anyone who wants to play at M-CHS. Boys tryouts are Friday (4:30 to 6 p.m.) and Saturday (9 a.m. to noon). Girls tryouts are Friday (7 to 8:30 p.m.) and Saturday (noon to 3 p.m.). All tryouts are in the main gym. Dolores boys basketball bake sale



Support the Dolores High School boys basketball team by stopping by the 12th Annual Dolores Ski Swap on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dolores Community Center. The boys will be selling delicious home baked goods, including breakfast items, along with some great hot chocolate and coffee, while people are shopping for some new ski equipment. Dolores cyclocross race volunteers



Kokopelli Bike & Board is seeking volunteers for Saturday’s Fort Lewis College cyclocross race at Joe Rowell Park in Dolores. Friday late afternoon, begin course prep. Saturday early morning, course set-up. Registration is from 10:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. First race off is at noon, while last race off is at 1:30 p.m. Prizes are given at 3 p.m. and course breakdown is from 3 to 4 p.m. Please email Michael at michaelh@ospreypacks.com for more information.




Conquistador Golf Course closure



Conquistador Golf Course will be closing on Sunday for the winter season. The golf course will be reopen on Friday, March 1, 2013 (weather permitting). For more information, please call the Conquistador Golf Course Pro Shop at 565-9208.




Cortez Trap Club turkey shoot



The Cortez Trap Club, located at 29002 County Road H, is hosting its annual turkey shoot Sunday at 10 a.m. There are beginner, intermediate and pro classes for turkey, quail and buddy shoots, Annie Oakleys and other games. Dolores River Anglers meeting



A Dolores River Anglers meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 6:30 p.m., in the Cortez Elks Lodge. A slate of business officers will be there for members to approve (or modify), ratification of DRA bylaws, moving forward with the new chapter application. A presentation will then be given by Jeremy Nolan from Heads Up Fly Fishing. He will be doing his exceptional presentation on fishing the San Juan River. Antwon Burton next level performance camp



The Ute Mountain Recreation Center in Towaoc will be holding the Antwon Burton next level performance camp the weekend of Nov. 17-18. Burton is an ex Denver Broncos defensive tackle, and the all sports strength and agility training camp is free. Local middle school and high school kids are encouraged to attend. The camp runs from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 to 11 a.m. on Sunday. Call Nick Traweek at 570-7437 for more information.
