What is SAID in the hot tub, STAYS in the hot tub!

Five friends and I spent an afternoon in a natural hot springs nearby recently. The six of us have been friends for a while and know each other pretty well. We were all okay with the different ‘attire’ that was worn. The place was secluded — sort of — and outdoors. It was a beautiful spot.

What a fabulous time we had! It was good to get away with all women for a while. We laughed, talked, snacked and then talked some more. The conversation morphed from marriages to relationships to men to kids to people to ourselves to our bodies to tattoos to piercings to what we like to eat to ... wetll, just everything. Half of it I can’t remember.

“Is the water hot?

“How hot is the water?

“Don’t slip on that rock!

“Will you go get something to eat, pleeeezz? I’m hungry!

“Are you gonna get out?

“I’m reeeeaally relaxed!!

But I do know that we are all different in some ways. Some are married, some are single, some have kids, some don’t. In spite of the differences we had, we had more in common. We were all women and we all faced the same issues — job, finances, relationships, body, time, and love.

At the end of the day, I felt fulfilled. I was relaxed from sitting in the hot tub and enjoying the warmth. Being with good friends all that time without fear of condemnation or judgment was the best kind of therapy a girl could have!

I could say all kinds of wonderful things about friends. I could repeat quote after quote about friends. They are treasures, priceless, love me even when they know all about me ... things like that. But, the thing is, the sayings are all true! The best part is that I feel comfortable enough with my friends to go hot-tubbin’!

—“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, ‘What! You too? I thought I was the only one.’”

—“A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.”

—“Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget.”
