A 27-year-old man, James Roberts, was arrested at Bauer and Spruce Streets, Mancos, in a stabbing incident involving his father, Garry Roberts. On Oct. 31, at about 11 p.m., Deputy John Cox responded to the call from the 600 block of Grand Ave. Charges filed in Montezuma County were second degree assault, menacing, resisting arrest and assault of a police officer.

The suspect was ordered out of his car and was subsequently tazed. He is currently being held in the Montezuma County Jail on a $40,000 bond.

The victim was taken to Southwest Memorial Hospital and was treated and released.

“Deputy Cox handled the situation extremely well,” said Marshal Bill Knauer. “He used minimal force necessary to render the situation safe. I’m really proud of my deputy.”
