Spruce, fir sale designed to combat budworm infestation

The lack of needles on the recent growth on these branches shows the effects of spruce budworms. The new growth on the branches should be full of new needles, but some of these branch tips have none. Note that some tips do have new needles, so not all new growth was hit.
